I decided to take my Son swimming when he was roughly 8 weeks old, I purchased a little baby wetsuit for him and my friend lent me what can only be described as a baby wetsuit from Solesupfront. This is used to keep the baby warm when in the water.

The baby wetsuit is made from Neoprene, which is the same kind of material that adult surf wetsuits are made from. It has Velcro fastening at the front and on the shoulders, you can undo the whole of the baby wetsuit so it lays out flat, simply lay your baby on and wrap it around them and stick the Velcro together. The suit then fits them snugly but it only covers their torso, so that their legs and feet are free to move around. As the straps are fastened by Velcro, they are adjustable, therefore you can loosen the straps as your child gets bigger

A good thing about the baby wetsuit is that it protects against UV so that when you're on holiday it protects them from the suns rays, of course you still need to put suntan lotion on anywhere that is exposed to the sun.

I found that as the baby wetsuit is so thick it keeps the baby warmer than they would be if they were just in the water in their swimsuit alone, this means that for small babies you can stay in the water for longer than I could if he wasn't wearing one of these baby wetsuits. I also found that the material of the suit helped me to keep a better grip on him, as we all know how slippery babies can get when they are wet, so this was a great help.
